Toyger-The Fuzzies |
|
The Toygers Fur and Colors, unlike most other cat breeds, develop very slowly over their first 2 years of life. They are born with some color and loose almost all the color and contrast in their pattern at around 3 weeks of age. With growing age color and contrast then slowly come back in and get more and more intensive until they reach their adult colors with around 2 years.
Toygers have inherited the Fuzzy stage from their wild relatives. In many wild cats, such as the ALC or particularly clear in cheetah cubs it can be observed that the cubs have longer, colorless, dull, vague and blurred coat and pattern between the third week of life and nine months. This development is for protection and camouflage of the cubs.
Unfortunately, the Fuzzies occur just when it's time for the new Toygercat owners to pick their dream kitten. At that time it's hard for most people to imagine how beautiful the kittens will be one day.
