Toyger Breeding Goals
|
Still in a development phase, the Toyger is a short haired domestic cat reminescent not of a mini-tiger, but as the name suggests a Toy Tiger. More like a tiger cub.
The main traits of the Toyger suggest a big cat type with features unseen in any other breed. The achievement of the breeding goals takes time and development is slow, but the past achievements are encouraging and incredibly exciting. Unlike other cats, the Toyger has a very long and wide nose with a full muzzle and prominent chin. The eyes should be small and the ears rounded and small. Some breeders are working on the improvement of the pattern . These include a preferably vivid rich orange groundcolor with deep black tigerstripes. In contrast to this some breeders are working on a whited underbody pattern. There are initial successes in achieving circular head makings. Horizontal forehead markings, much like the tiger, would be one of the major goals. What is still missing is the thick tiger jowlruff. Other breeding programs have begun to breed `white` Toygers. We are looking forward to the next developments in this special breed and are very proud to have a chance to work on this breeding program. |
