Raw Meat Diet
The cat is an extreme carnivore, requiring a diet solely of meat. A raw meat diet, or BARF (Bones And Raw Foods), offers a healthy, natural nourishment for your cat.
At MAGADHA TOYGER CATTERY, we feed all our cats raw meat and have seen excellent results. Our cats love it, and they are healthy and robust.
Several shops in Switzerland specialize in BARFing. It's crucial to use supplements like Felini Complete to ensure cats receive all necessary nutrients.
Important: Cats should not eat raw pork due to the risk of Aujeszky's disease, a fatal herpes virus infection that can be present in pork and is untreatable.
By following BARF guidelines, you can provide your cat with a natural approach to health through a raw meat diet.

Why a Raw Meat Diet?

Initially, the raw meat diet was a healthier alternative to commercial pet food. Now, it's a mission to educate pet owners about its benefits.
Commercial pet foods can lead to diseases. Studies show cats fed commercial food have a 2.5–5 times higher risk of hyperthyroidism due to additives like soy isoflavones or phthalates. Other risks include allergies, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, tooth decay, tartar, periodontal disease, chronic digestive issues, ear infections, bladder and prostate inflammation, gallstones, kidney failure, itching, and skin and coat problems.
Industrial cat food often contains high levels of carbohydrates (e.g., grains) as fillers, especially in dry food, which exceeds the acceptable 10% maximum for cats.

Where Does Pet Food Meat Come From?

Commercial pet food may include roadkill, sewage sludge, former pets, and eggshells—ingredients you wouldn’t want to feed your cat.

If you choose commercial food, scrutinize the ingredients.
We source our raw meat from goldenway.ch and occasionally supermarkets. We also feed our cats whole day-old chicks from animalco.ch.
